Assistens Cemetery, Copenhagen, Denmark

 [visited 9 May 2022]

The Assistens Cemetery in the Norrebro district of Copenhagen is a lovely parklike burial ground and the final resting place of quite a few famous personalities including writer Hans Christian Anderson, philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, physicist Niels Bohr and American jazz musician Ben Webster.

Strolling through the cemetery you'll find some of the most wonderful funeral sculpture in the city: representational portrait medallions, busts and statues, quite a peek into 19th century Danish life.
