Vysehrad Cemetery, Prague, Czech Republic

[visited 5 May 2022]

Located adjacent to the church of Saint Peter and Paul and on a high bluff overlooking the Vltava River the Vysehrad Cemetery in Prague is chock full of incredible works of art: portrait medallions, busts, freestanding statues, mosaics and much more are to be found.

It is also the final resting place of many notable Czechs including composer Antonin Dvorak and art Nouveau painter and illustrator Alphonse Mucha. (Mucha is buried in a large tomb called Slavin, the resting place for many famous Czech cultural and historical figures.)

For more information visit the official Prague tourist site.

Since there are a large number of wonderful pieces of art in this cemetery, I have included many, many photos in this post. Forewarned is forearmed. . . .
